leadership requires encouragement and opportunity if it is to grow. that’s why each year linfield selects fourteen emerging leaders from the junior class to exchange their comfortable lives for the third world reality of haiti on a short term mission trip.
the mission? to effectively plan and implement a 4-day vacation bible school for 250 enthusiastic haitian children. students spend an entire semester preparing, developing personal stories of faith, and building team unity, a process that helps cultivate the maturity and confidence necessary for the trip. once in haiti, they lead kids in crafts, sports, and skits, providing messages of hope through stories of god’s love. while called there to serve, our students invariably find themselves blessed, forever impacted by the incredible joy of the people they encounter.
the mexico house build trip is an annual outreach opportunity that takes place during easter vacation, and it is by far our biggest mission trip every year. in fact, last year linfield sent over 85 high school students, faculty, and staff to ensenada, mexico where they built two houses for struggling families and spent time ministering to kids at a local orphanage.
申博体育官网each year, led by members of the mexico bible class, our students raise the necessary funds themselves; they swing hammers, lay roofing, install installation, paint, and present the keys to a grateful family…all in one week! the entire linfield family participates too: elementary students collect school supplies; middle school students gather toiletries, high school students collect clothes and shoes, and then all of these items are distributed to the neighborhood children by the mexico team.
